1 Peter 2:24 NIV He personally carried our sins on his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By His wounds, you are healed.
Rejection (Feelings of worthlessness, insecurity, or hopelessness) is seen often. It usually stems from a life event that took place that ended with leaving hurt or pain. Things like multiple failed relationships or marriages, not getting the job or promotion you desire, not having the friends you feel you should have, and so on. But other times it is a little deeper; rejection can set in after the emotional wounds from a past traumatic experience (like rape, abortion, mental/physical/verbal abuse, etc) have remained for a time and have become infected. This often causes us to expect hurt and pain from others, along with bringing low self-esteem, lack of confidence, and difficulty receiving help (among other things).
God wants to set us free from the pain of our past. If God remembers our sins no more after repentance, we can learn to forgive ourselves and let things go also. Psalms 103:12 (NIV) He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. The first step is receiving the truth about ourselves; how God really feels about us. We must get out of agreement with the devil's lies, our own negative thoughts, and even with what other people say we are. The Word says the TRUTH will us free (John 8:32). Psalm 139:14 (NIV) Praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV) "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Would you agree that our words are powerful? So are our thoughts, because what we say starts there. The Bible talks about the creative force of words; yet even scholars (like 'life-coaches, etc.) and some scientists (like Masaru Emoto) admit that words have a powerful affect on our lives, negative and positive of course. The Bible speaks of renewing (reprogramming) your mind (Romans 12:2). Think of how powerful it is and pleasant it will be, to go at life with the energy of knowing for a fact who you really are - which does not have to be a by-product of your past! No hurt, pain, or any event from our past is too 'crazy', big or difficult for God ☺. Feeling alone and overwhelmed by things is hard, but we don't have to stay that way. The loving relationship all of us need can only be provided perfectly from God. Reach out to us or someone you know in Christ to help you get there! Let us Pray: Father in Heaven, I come to you humbly and with thanksgiving, knowing that you honor my requests (John 14:13; Matthew 7:8), and I thank you for your unending love for me. I open my life to you now, by faith. Please take control. Lord I ask that you reveal to me the source and the root of my pain, in order for me to confront it and lay it to rest at the altar of the cross. Because you died in my place, I am really free from all grief (Isaiah 53:4) and pain. Teach me to renew my thinking, of myself and others; heal all things broken in me from my past experiences, and all toxic emotions caused by hurts God. Send positive people and influences around me, and teach me to cast down every lofty thought that attempts to exalt your Word - as the truth keeps me free. Flood me with more of you Lord, and place me on the platform of your peace - a place I need to be, in order to have clear, unhindered thoughts about my life. Thank you Lord! and amen.
